Underage drinking leads to injury in parking lot

Alcohol has been part of American culture for years. America is known for having one of the highest drinking ages in the world at 21. Several underage Michigan residents found the effects of alcohol to be a big inconvenience at a convenience store.

A 20-year-old woman was left unconscious at a convenience store parking lot with head injuries as a result of underage drinking. Three 20-year-olds pulled up to the store in Grand Blanc Township. A 20-year-old man left the car to enter the store and allegedly ended up attempting to shoplift some pretzels. Upon being confronted by the clerk, the man told the clerk he was going to ask if any of the other individuals in the car had any money.

After reviewing security footage, the police reported that the 20-year-old female driver of the car panicked at the shoplifting accusation and hurried back to the car in a desperate attempt to flee. She allegedly backed out of the parking lot in such a hurry that it caused the car to spin and another young woman to be thrown out of the vehicle. The first woman then drove off leaving her compatriot in the parking lot unconscious and bleeding from the head.

The police traced the license plate back to a house and found the girl to be under the influence of alcohol. They also found five other underage people drinking. The girl authorized a search of her car which resulted in police discovering a small quantity of marijuana. She faces charges of drug possession, underage drinking, possession of drug paraphernalia, and leaving the scene of an accident.

In Michigan the drinking age is 21. An experienced criminal defense attorney can assist those charged with underage drinking or being a minor in consumption by preparing a defense and working to get the charges reduced or dismissed.
