Man may be facing DWI charge after crashing into trees

It is often true that news stories about arrests and possible criminal conduct are based on information provided by police. While this is understandable, it has the unfortunate side-effect of not necessarily giving the suspect a fair shake. That may be the case with an alleged Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or drunk driving incident in Washtenaw County.Early in the morning of December 11, a man was reportedly arrested after his 2011 Ford F-series pickup truck allegedly crashed into several trees on Monroe Street in Saline. Emergency personnel quickly responded to the incident and had to stabilize his spine before transporting him on a backboard to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. His current condition was not available, and the man's identity had not yet been released.

Washentaw County police to increase DUI patrol over holidays

I have posted numerous times about people in the Ann Arbor area who have been arrested for DUI, so it should come as no surprise that police in the area take drunk driving very seriously. Speaking further to this, the Washentaw County Sheriff's Office announced last week that its offices will be increasing DUI patrols this holiday season. Police said the crackdown began last Friday and will continue through Jan. 2.

Possible DUI charges following hit-and-run with police car

Washtenaw County residents charged with drinking and driving face harsh penalties. Even so, it is important to remember that a DUI accusation is not the same as a DUI conviction. A 23-year-old Washtenaw County man is facing these potential charges after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run with a police vehicle. The crash occurred in Ann Arbor on Nov. 19 between 2:15 a.m. and 2:40 a.m. A command officer with the police department had reportedly parked his police vehicle outside his home at approximately 2:15 a.m. Soon after, he reportedly heard a loud bang, and found damage to the patrol car moments later.

Man hits utility pole, arrested for drunk driving

Being charged with DUI in Michigan can be scary. A conviction on this charge can result in loss of driving privileges, court-ordered treatment, large fines or prison time. But being charged with DUI is not the same as being convicted. Such may be the case for a man who allegedly crashed his van into a utility pole.
