You Violated Your Bond Conditions, Now What?

You've been arrested, charged with a misdemeanor or felony crime. At arraignment, the judge gave you some bond conditions - i.e., don't drink alcohol; don't drive on a suspended license, etc. You violated one of the bond conditions. You are still waiting for your pretrial and/or sentencing hearing. What will the prosecutor or judge think or do?

Well, depending on who is your prosecutor and/or judge, you could be in big fat trouble. The prosecutor may not be willing to give you a good plea bargain. The judge may immediately throw you in jail for a few days or weeks or tell you to blow into a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test device) every day for the next 30 days or more. Now, you could be in danger of losing your job, more money and a lot of your time and convenience.

The moral of the story - think carefully about what the judge ordered you to do or not do and, like Nike says, Just Do It!

Always consult with a qualified, criminal defense attorney about the specific facts of your case.
