Woman charged with dwi in Michigan

Operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can lead to disastrous consequences. These chemical substances are well known for their ability to impair a users judgment and can lead to poor decision making. A Michigan woman learned all too well the impairing effects driving while intoxicated, or DWI, can have on the operation of a motor vehicle during a traffic stop last week.

According to police reports, officers witnessed a vehicle driving erratically around 3 am Saturday morning. The officers stated that the vehicle was swerving and ran over the curb, narrowly missing a road sign. When the officers stopped the vehicle, the 37-year-old female driving appeared to be intoxicated. The woman submitted to a breathalyzer test and was found to have a blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

The woman's impaired judgment became clearly evident only after she was placed into the police cruiser. She managed to kick out the rear window of the vehicle and when officers attempted to calm her, she kicked one of them in the face. Police managed to restrain the woman and transported her to Munson Medical Center for further blood testing. While there, the suspect reportedly spat in the face of a hospital staff member. The woman was charged with DWI, two counts of assault, and destruction of property.

All of us have made poor choices at one time of another, me included. Unfortunately, our decisions can lead to intense consequences. For the woman involved in the aforementioned DWI, the choice to driving while impaired could result in jail time, fines and probation. Because none of us is a stranger to life's mistakes, it often helps to have an ally with a knowledge of DWI laws in the state of Michigan. Help with convictions may possibly lead to lesser sentencing and can help to ease some of the emotional distress associated with the litigation process.
