Child Custody and Visitation (Parenting Time)
It is important for both parents to play a valuable role in a child's life. I understand that divorces and child custody or visitation/parenting time disputes can be very sensitive and emotional. I work with you to achieve a solution that is both realistic and in the best interest of the child or children. I help you establish child custody, child support, and visitation/parenting time schedules.
Each situation is unique but there are many factors involved in determining custody, and visitation/parenting time. The primary goal is to achieve a solution that is in the child's best interest. I help clients understand these factors and achieve a favorable resolution.
Some factors considered in evaluating the best interests of the child are:
- the relationship of the parents
- whether there has been domestic violence or child abuse and neglect
- how close the parents live from each other (Michigan parents are not allowed to live more than 100 miles from one another without court consent)
- whether a parent's job may impact child support obligations
- which parent has been the primary caregiver
- and many other factors
Contact my office to talk about your situation. We will discuss your case and figure out what the best options are for your legal representation.
